Continuously tapered fibers can be extruded from either Polyester or Nylon. Polyester is stiffer while Nylon is softer. Nylon is also more resistant to abrasion. Polyester has a broader spectrum of chemical resistance to paint solvents & is better at retaining wet stiffness.
Nexstar has a wide range of cross-sections that make it easier for paintbrush manufacturers to balance the technical and commercial objectives.
Fibers are available in all conventional lengths from 51 to 140mm in three taper ratios 9/5, 12/08 and 15/10 mils. Customization of lengths and taper ratios within technology limitations is also possible.
Glossy and matt finishes are available in all colors. Full matt is available on black.
M-Cell technology has taken years to be developed and commercialized. Through this tech, fibers can be embedded with a variety of micro materials to deliver unique functionalities. For instance, friction may be reduced by using fluoropolymers and improving paint release. Surfaces can be sculpted to pick up more paint.
Dyed finishes will be added soon to our product range and will make it most comprehensive.
